Framed in concrete with CMU infill, the building represents a construction style typical of the period. Originally 3 stories, 3 additional stores were added in 1957. |

This is the first building to use that process. This luxury building has few units, some spanning across 2 floors. |

Tudor/French Norman Cottages Built from 1923-1932, this collection of French-Normal Style residences is a product of influence from California. Fifteen separate residences remain in Honolulu today and 7 are represented in the Gold Coast. The style is distinguished by asymmetric massing, a miz of timber and stucco in the facade, diamond-pane windows, and high pitched roofs with rounded eves in the imitation of thatch. Eghlom Residence Completed in 1926, this is one of the few examples of Spanish Colonial Revival. This style was thought to be suitable for the Hawaii climate. The brick, stucco and red clay roof tiles are common characteristics of this style. Typical modern buildings have flat roofs - the overhand provided by a hipped formation is needed for shade in this climate. |
